Common Questions

Wondering About Who We Are?

We are a welcoming family of Christians dedicated to living and sharing Christ's teachings through a faith continually renewed by God's grace.

We come together in worship, study, and mission bringing a diversity of talents and offering opportunities for each member to express a personal faith through shared responsibility and service.

We commit to provide a Christ-centered atmosphere for both individual and communal growth in which all can realize their full spiritual potential.

How would you describe Ellington Congregational Church?

We are a welcoming, family-friendly, multi-generational community.  We are hungry to learn about our Christian faith, nourish our spiritual development, and seek out opportunities to put our faith into action. We are deeply invested in a vibrant music program that provides the anchor for our worship and includes adult and children’s choral and bell/chime choirs, and occasional guest musicians.

We are a church that embraces all age groups. Children and youth have a strong presence in our church's life. Our Sunday School and youth group activities are tailored to meet the needs of each age group.  Our seniors are active and involved in all manner of fellowship and service opportunities and those who have come to need more help as supported by strong friendships and the Caritas outreach program. Families and adult opportunities to learn and join in fellowship provide the glue for our community growth and strength.

Core to our covenant with one another is also our call to reach outwardly to our neighbors in need with a commitment to mission that includes 11% of our budget dedicated to local and global community outreach.

What programs and activities are focused on children and youth?

With professional staff leading our Sunday School and youth, we have a full program to meet the needs of all age groups: Infant room childcare, Sunday School program (Toddler- 8th grade), Middle School Youth Group (PACE), Confirmation Class (9th Grade) and High School Youth Group (TELOS). Additional enrichment to our worship services includes contributions from our children’s choral and bell/chime choirs and our Middle School sacred dancers.

The Sunday School program includes it's own monthly teaching-focused Communion service.  Classes are tailored to address the variety of learning styles of our children with talented and well-supported teachers and aides, integrating weekly lessons, crafts and mission efforts designed to provide our children their own opportunities to make a difference.

Our youth engage in regular meetings, service opportunities and projects that blend fun and fellowship with hands-on experiences of being Christ's hands in the world.

What programs and activities are tailored to adults?
